Get Ready to Play: Official Release of UFL
Since it was first revealed in a trailer at gamescom 2021, UFL has attracted constant buzz and discussion in the online football videogames community. The most constant topic of discussion? The release date!
For the last three years, our developers have been working diligently—coding, designing, motion-capturing, and fine-tuning gameplay—all with the ultimate goal of revolutionising football gaming forever.
“Fair-to-play” became the name of the game. This means that UFL offers players a “skill-first approach” without pay-to-win options. Strikerz Inc. CEO Eugene Nashilov said the game’s model drives every development decision the UFL team makes, and indeed every company decision as well—it even appears in the core values of Strikerz Inc, the studio behind UFL. “A player’s success should not depend on the number of in-game purchases or the value of donations they make,” he says.
An important stage of development began in the fall of 2023, when UFL’s developers realised they would soon be ready to begin closed alpha testing. This was a very exciting moment for the entire development studio, because for the first time, not only employees but also future players could experience the game. UFL’s alpha test lasted from November 2023 to the beginning of August 2024 and involved more than 15,000 football fans around the world.
After the alpha's success, the team took some time to integrate what they had learned from the fans. In June 2024, they were ready for the next step: the open beta. It was decided that the beta would take place in two stages, the first on June 7 and the second on August 2.
During the first beta, the fans created more than a million in-game clubs—1.5 million in fact! This was a huge milestone for the developers and a real indicator that they were on the right track. We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our alpha and beta testers. Thanks to you, we’ve overcome all obstacles that we’ve encountered—and not always with great difficulty, but with great pleasure as well!
